I have registered, but I can't login properly. Before you can log in you need to activate your account >>> Check your email, and you will have received an activation email that says "To activate the account click on the following link or copy-paste it in your browser:..." Click the long link and this will take you to RoscommonFree.com and activate your account. You may then login to the website using your username and password. NOTE: You will not receive the activation email if your email address was entered incorrectly at the point of registration. If you have not received an activation email, please register again and ensure that your email address is spelled correctly. Can I add more than one listing?Sure you can, the more entries we have, the better the directory will work. For example:- If your business has a range of shops, it is better that each of these outlets has a separate listing so that users can search by geographical area also. ie 'mobile phones' in Castlebar etc. Can I add my listing to the main categories as well?Yes, please do. You can add your listing in up to five categories, so you might as well use them up. The parent category is really the first choice for any listing, and the sub-categories are there to give a sense of order and make it easier for the User to find what they are looking for. Please don't feel confined to pigeon-hole your listing at this stage. These categories aren't quite right. Can I suggest a new one?Sure. It is important that the user can find exactly what they are looking for, but we are trying to avoid lots of categories with only one business in them. If you have a suggestion, please email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Can I upload more than one picture?Sorry, no. At this stage, and because the site is free, we have to limit the images to one description image and one logo or icon image, per listing. However, there is no limit on the amount of text you can add to each entry. Will I get more SPAM by adding my email address? No, you shouldn't get any more spam by listing your email address on RoscommonFree.com. The website uses a method to hide or 'obfuscate' the email address from those nasty SPAM robots that go round the web and collect email addresses, but humans and real visitors can click on it to make enquiries, no problem. Will I come up in Google?Yes, we are now being indexed in Google, so you should start to come up in relevant search results. However, in order to be able to do this you need to provide a good description in your page for Google to get it's teeth into. You will need to describe all of your products, services and activities, and remember to include the phrases that you wish to come up for in Google. For example: If you are a carpenter and want to come up for 'hand made furniture mayo' it can't happen unless you at least include the phrase 'hand made furniture' in your description. Good luck! How long before I will see my entry in the directory?Your entry is automatically added to the directory as soon as you click Save, so you should see immediate results. The main directory is always sorted by the date added to the directory, so the sooner you list (not just register), the higher up you will be on the page. NOTE: Please ensure that you are actually looking in the category that you submitted it to. We have been getting feedback of people not being able to find their listing in a main category, when they actually submitted it to a sub-category. To make it easier for users to find you, we have made it so you can submit your listing in up to five categories, so feel free to use them. :) I entered my listing but it doesn't show on the page.It is usually something simple like your browser cache, and you are actually looking at a previously downloaded version of the page. Just click the refresh button on your browser (looks like two arrows in a circle) and the new page should come up no problem. NOTE: If you have breached the rules of the website, eg. your business is not based in County Roscommon, your listing and user account will be removed without notice. Please read the rules when submitting your entries to the website. I have entered my co-ordinates but my map does not come up.Well, Google isn't liking the format of the co-ordinates you have given. Please ensure they are in the decimal degrees format like this:- GPS Latitude: 53.95044 Longitude: -8.73202 GPS How do I get co-ordinates for my map?The best way is to actually go to your location with a SatNav or GPS unit and measure your co-ordinates. Please ensure they are in the decimal degrees format like this:- GPS Latitude: 53.95044 Longitude: -8.73202 GPS The next best way is to use a tool like Google Earth to get your co-ordinates, look in the bottom left hand corner of the window as you roll over your location, and this will tell you the information you need. I have entered my co-ordinates but my map doesn't look right. There is a small offset to Google Maps, and the positioning is greatly dependent on the accuracy of your data. However, if you are really out (in the Indian Ocean) you may have got your Longitude and Latitude data reversed. I tried to upload an image/logo icon but nothing happened.Your image was either too big, or in a format that the website doesn't understand. Images need to be in GIF, JPG or PNG format and cannot exceed 300kb in size. Unfortunately, at this stage, the upload tool doesn't give you any feedback on this. I typed in my listing using the form but it doesn't look as good as other listings on the site. The web page that you are typing into is already pre-styled, which means that although you have the option to change the typeface and the type size for emphasis, the page will look a whole lot neater and easier to read if you just type in plain text. Bold and italics can also add emphasis, and you might try to slightly increase the type size for headings to break up your main text. I 'cut and pasted' in my text from my website but it doesn't look right. You may have inadvertently copied some additional background code that you don't need, and pasted it into your new page. This will make your listing look untidy as the code was not designed for RoscommonFree.com. The best way around this is to type clean text directly into the Description text area, OR paste your text into a simple text editor like wordpad, notepad, or textedit (not Microsoft Word) and convert/save it as Plain Text. Then you are able to copy this new text and paste it into the Description text area. This will be nice and 'clean', and you can add all your bold, italic and other text effects back in. I am logged in but can't access a previous listing. When you last edited the listing, you may have just closed the browser instead of saving the entry form (including the safety code). This leaves the listing 'checked out' and gives the website the impression that it is still in use.
